Chevron Challenge

Happy Weekend! 

I've been enjoying the posts over at the Moxie Fab World blog about the new Card Creations magazine.  There are a bunch of fun challenges that will run for the month, so I thought I'd play along with the chevron challenge! 

Here's what I came up with: 

I used a chevron heart stamp from the Hearts a Flutter set by Stampin' Up to make the majority of the elements on this card.  It has a matching die, so I cut out a bunch of hearts and adhered them together to make a flower bunch and two butterflies.

The background is stamped with the Interlocking Backdrops set and the sentiment is from Flying By-- both from Lawn Fawn.  

 

And since there's a bit o' green in the card, I'll be entering this week's Simon Says Stamp Challenge.

Stamp-a-ma-jig Tutorial

Hey There! 

I hope you've enjoyed the weekend!  I was lucky enough to spend a bit of time at my craft desk today (...alas, no craft room, but a girl can dream!).  I was in the process of using a stamp set that I received for Christmas and needed to use my stamp-a-ma-jig to get everything placed correctly.  So, I thought it would be fun to do a little tutorial on how to use a stamp-a-ma-jig.  It's such a handy tool for stamping images precisely.  And, it's not just for wood block stamps-- it works perfectly for clear or cling stamps too! 

Here's the how-to: 

Start by placing the plastic sheet against the corner of the Stamp-a-ma-jig.  It has a smooth side for water-based ink and a textured side for pigment or dye ink.  Once the plastic sheet is placed, grab your mounted stamp and align it in the corner of the Stamp-a-ma-jig.

This is how the plastic sheet should look when stamped.  

Next place the sheet over your card and position the image. 

Once the image is positioned, align the Stamp-a-ma-jig with the plastic sheet.  This will serve as your stamping guide.  

Next, remove the plastic sheet without disturbing the Stamp-a-ma-jig.  Align the mounted stamp in the corner of the Stamp-a-ma-jig and stamp the image...

...for a perfectly placed image every time! 

This was just the right tool to use for this card.  The flowers and leaves included a solid image and an outline image.  Since they're cling stamps (Stippled Blossoms by SU), it's hard to place everything correctly without the Stamp-a-ma-jig.  

I finished the card by rounding the opposite corners and placing the panel on some orange patterned paper from the new Pink Lemonade paper collection by Lawn Fawn.  The sentiment is from PTI (Irresistibly Ikat).

Baby Shower Card

Hello and Happy Friday! 

Today's card is for a friend's baby shower that I'm attending.  It's a simple card that features several sweet baby animals. 

The animals are from the stamp set Storybook Friends and the sentiment is from the set Teeny Tiny Wishes, which are both from Stampin' Up!.  I colored the animals with copics and used a 1 inch circle punch to cut them out.  I then embossed the sentiment with black powder and used antique linen distress ink to add dimension to the circles and sentiment strip.  The card ends up measuring 4x4.

Snowflakes

Happy November, Everyone!

The weather is definitely starting to get chilly these days, which makes it perfect to be inside and making cards!

Today's card is a bright and cheery holiday card.  I used the Snowflake Medley and the Think Big Favorites #8 stamp sets from Papertrey ink for this.  I stamped the snowflakes with pumpkin pie, melon mambo, and certainly celery inks from Stampin' Up!.

The sentiment is stamped in black.  I thought the card looked a little plain, so I added some silver striped washi tape and bakers twine to the card.  The front panel is mounted on pumpkin pie cardstock from Stampin' Up!. 

I like how this card turned out, but the ink seemed to really saturate the stamp and all the pretty "etchings" in the snowflakes weren't visible.  So, I re-did the card with some distress inks, but with the same layout.  

  
Since the snowflakes looked a little bland by themselves again, I stamped some small ones in the center using antique linen distress ink.  I like how it turned out AND I like that it was easy and simple to make!

Just a note...

Hi Everyone!  

Today's been a busy day, so I thought I'd leave you with just a little note... 

Today's card is a small one (4x4), but I thought it was perfect for a short note.  I thought I would try and stretch my stamps a bit and use one of the Stampin' Up! Christmas sets "Watercolor Winter."  It's a really pretty set that includes a poinsettia base image and an overlay (outline) image.  I stamped the poinsettia first with the lighter pool party ink and then with the darker baja breeze ink.  I then added some color to the center of the flower with copics and stickles. 

I used the pretty patterned paper for my color scheme, which incorporated the pool color in the flower and the navy ink from the sentiment.  I also wanted to pull the orange color, but I didn't have any paper that color.... but I did coincidently have a very similar ink color...

I just rubbed memento "peanut brittle" ink on a strip of vanilla card stock and voila!  The perfect color paper to finish the card!  The card was finished by rounding the opposite edges.

Thinking of You!

Yay for the weekend!  It's been a busy Saturday here, but I managed to squeeze in some time for card making :)  I know... thank heavens... 

For today's card, I used the Stampin' Up! set "Scentsational Season."  This set is SO much fun AND even more awesome because it has matching framelits.  I skipped out on the framelits this time, but used the gingerbread man included in the stamp set.  This cute little guy was stamped with early espresso and sahara sand ink and I added three little pearl buttons to the dark brown gingerbread man for a little extra decoration.  The sentiment is stamped in cherry cobbler and is from the "More Merry Messages" stamp set. 

For a little added interest, I used an edgelit for the bottom of the card and added some brown baker's twine behind the sentiment.
