Hawaiian Quilt Card

Aloha!

Today I wanted to share a Hawaiian themed card that I made the other day.  When I was shopping around the local craft/stamp stores last month, I came across a fun stamp of a Hawaiian quilt.  I'm not sure if you've ever seen a Hawaiian quilt in person, but they're absolutely beautiful and have a very distinctive look about them.  A typical quilt has a symmetric botanical pattern that appliquéd onto a white background.  I'd love to buy one at some point, but, for now, the quilt stamp is a bit more in my budget ;)

I stamped the image in soft apricot shadow ink (Hero Arts) and mounted the panel on black cardstock.  I wanted a matching strip of cardstock, so I smeared the ink on the strip and let it dry.  After that, I stamped the sentiment on both the card base and cardstock strip and adhered everything together.  Very simple!

Thanks so much for visiting today!  Hope to see you back soon!

Lawnscaping Challenge #62: Paper Piecing

Hey Everyone!

It's time for another challenge at Lawnscaping!  This week we're having fun with paper-piecing!  It's such a fun technique, so I hope you'll try it out!

I'm was a little bummed that my household goods (including all my patterned paper) have not arrived yet, but I was able to find a 6x6 paper pad from American Crafts at Target the other day.  Here's my card:

I used the Home Sweet Home set from Lawn Fawn for this card.

I wish I had some glossy accents to add the the hearts, but alas!  Hopefully we'll get some news about our stuff this coming week.  We should also get internet this week too, so once that happens, I'll be posting more regularly on the blog (I'm currently at Whole Foods using their wifi).  But I digress...

Make sure you go check out the Lawnscaping blog and the Lawnscaping Facebook Page for more inspiration!

Lawnscaping Challenge #61: Sketch

Hey Everyone!

Are you ready for another Lawnscaping Challenge??  This time we're creating projects based off of this awesome sketch by Chrissie:

This challenge was especially difficult for me!  My craft supplies are so limited right now and all I could do was think of all the supplies that I didn't have... like circle dies!  I did, however, have a leftover circle from this card, so I made do with what I had and here's what I came up with:

I thought it would be fun to mirror the sketch and use the hot air balloon in place of the banner.  I started by stamping the map background on the card base as well as on the leftover circle and popped the circle up with some foam tape for a little extra dimension.  I used some colored cardstock to paper-piece the hot air balloon and decorated it with little stars from the same set.  The sentiment is from Flying By.

I hope you'll head over to the Lawnscaping Blog to check out the DT AND check out the Lawnscaping Facebook page everyday for a little more Lawn Fawn inspiration from the Facebook DT!  I also hope you'll play along with us, because Simon Says Stamp is our awesome sponsor!  You could win a $25 gift certificate!
