Happy Day

Hey Everyone!

I just wanted to share one of my projects in the September/October issue of Paper Crafts Magazine.  This is the very first time I've been published and I couldn't be more over-the-moon excited!  Yay!

It's on page 40 of the Digital Issue.  I also have another project on page 34 of the Digital Issue too!  The magazine is full of fabulous cards and projects, so I hope you get a chance to check it out!

Lawnscaping Challenge #64: Distress Maniacs

Hey!

Are you ready for another fun challenge at the Lawnscaping blog??  This challenge is all about using your Distress products!

Here's my card:

For this card, I used my distress inks.  I had considered using my distress paints too, but I couldn't find the colors I wanted-- they're still packed up somewhere!  I was able to find all my inks, though, so that's what I used.  I was inspired to create this little scene by the sentiment from Lawn Fawn's Blue Skies stamp set.  I started by inking the background to create a gradient with black soot, chipped sapphire, broken china, and tumbled glass distress inks.  Next, I used picked raspberry, tumbled glass, and mustard seed inks to color a piece of cardstock for the hot air balloon.  I then stamped all the pieces and used the coordinating Lawn Cuts to die cut everything.  I decided to use copics to color the gray clouds and the banner so I could get the exact color I wanted.  Lastly, I added a frame around the sky cardstock panel and a little Wink of Stella on the banner-- and yes, you too should jump on the Wink of Stella Bandwagon ;)

Hope you feel inspired to play along with us this week!  And don't forget to check out the Lawnscaping Facebook page!

I'll also be entering this card into the Carnival Craze challenge over at the Curtain Call challenge blog.

Here's to hoping blue skies are indeed ahead :)

Lawnscaping Challenge #63: One Layer

Happy Monday!

It's the start of a new week, which means it's time for another challenge at the Lawnscaping blog!  This week's challenge is a hard one-- create a one-layer card.

I think it's nearly impossible for me not to create a card without  dimensional adhesive, so I felt especially stumped about this one.  ...And to exclude embellishments like twine, washi tape, buttons, etc... what's left to go on the card..??  Lol!  But I guess that's what challenges are all about!  Here's the card I created:

I started by using the Lawn Cuts hearts to make a stamping template for my card.  I then used a variety of Lawn Fawn sets to stamp various patterns in the hearts.  I was inspired to try this die cut masking technique that Jennifer McGuire shared the other day.  After the die cut hearts were stamped, I added the sentiment (Making Frosty Friends) and added a few extra hearts (Bee Mine, Critters Ever After) and dots (Let It Snow) to fill in the space.

I hope you'll play along with us this week!  Our sponsor is the very awesome Simon Says Stamp, who is giving away a $25 gift card to the lucky winner!
