Thank You Cards

I think I'm breaking a record this week with the number of blog postings!  I should really be posting more anyways, but the move to Hawaii has really thrown me for a loop.  I'm just starting to get organized again, so that's something to be thankful for.  And speaking of blessings, I have two cards to share today :)

I needed to make thank you cards for some special people in my life, so this is the first card I came up with:

The background stamp is one of my favorite Hero Art's background stamps (Leaf and Floral background).  I inked the back panel with peacock feathers distress ink and then stamped the background in the same color.  The sweet flower stamp is from Penny Black (delicate florals), which I colored with copics.  The card is finished with a sentiment from Paper Smooches' Spiritual Sampler-- they really have the best sentiments!

The next card is a little different, but I think it's still in the same vein:

Sorry for the weird photograph-- the vellum actually is normal colored in real life!  Anyways, I stamped Penny Black's Glory of Modesty background stamp on a white cardstock panel and clear embossed it.  I then used Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick distress inks to color in the flowers:

Ink the middle with the darker shade (Worn Lipstick)
Blend the darker shade out from the center with the lighter color (Spun Sugar)
I didn't have any daubers to do this, but the q-tips worked great!  The distress inks blend really nicely, so this is an easy technique for anyone to try.  I finished the card with the same sentiment that was embossed in black on vellum.

That's all for me today.  Thanks for stopping by!

Another Birthday

The fall, in general, is a popular time for birthdays in my family and October is no exception! The latest celebration was for my husband, and he was lucky enough to have the day randomly off of work.  We kept it pretty low key, but did decide to go on a hike up the Kuli'ou'ou Ridge Trail.  It's a beautiful trail that climbs roughly 1800 feet in 2 miles.  It was an awesome hike and totally worth the somewhat steep (at times) incline.  I took a few pictures and thought I would share :)

Made it to the top!

The view from the top

See those tiny houses in the valley way in the distance?
Yea, that's where the car was...
Awesome, right?  But, as you know, no birthday and no blog post would be complete without a card ;)

I kept it pretty simple with this one.  I used Avery Elle's The Man stamp set for the majority of the card.  The "cheers" sentiment is from Paper Smooches' Birthday Sampler.

Thanks so much for visiting!

Happy Birthday

Happy Saturday!

I'm finally starting to organize my craft room after our move, so it's been like Christmas to unpack all my long-lost goodies!  Currently my room looks like a crafty explosion-- not nearly as awesome as it sounds-- and (unfortunately?) I somehow found myself needing to make a whole bunch of cards for the coming week (read: Ack!).  Sometimes this hobby is a burden...it would be so much easier to go to the store and buy a card, but it just feels so wrong now. Lol!  But, I guess at least it's a fun hobby ;)  So anyways, here's the first card of this week:

A birthday card:

I found my Avery Elle Framed Fonts stamp set and thought it would be perfect for this birthday card.  I started by die cutting a tag from PTI (Tag Sale #5) and stamped the sentiment directly on the tag.  The patterned paper is all from the Yes Please Amy Tangerine 6x6 paper pad from American Crafts.  I finished the card off with some gray Lawn Trimmings (Lawn Fawn).

I'm going to enter my card in Avery Elle's October Challenge.  The details can be found here.

Thanks for stopping by!

A Happy Hello

TGIF!

Happy Friday, Everyone!  I'm here today to share a card I made while playing around with some spray mists.

I'm really loving these mists!  They're a lot of fun to play with and such a quick way to add color to a project.  I started by die cutting the PTI "hello" word die from white cardstock.  I then sprayed half of the word with Heidi Swapp Color Shine Spray in peach and the other half in primrose.  To assemble the card, I stamped the line stamp (Mama Elephant) twice,  added some flicks of black Mister Huey spray, adhered the "hello" word, and stamped "A Happy" from the coordinating stamp set.  Easy-peasy!

I'm going to link up this card to this week's Simon Says Stamp Challenge: Use a rubber or clear stamp-- couldn't get much easier than that!

Lawnscaping Challenge #67: Patterned Paper

It's time for the next Lawnscaping Challenge!  For this challenge, it's all about making a dent in your patterned paper hoard stash ;)

I thought it would be fun to do a little paper-piecing for this challenge.  Here's my card:

I used 3 papers from the new Into the Woods collection from Lawn Fawn and a subtle yellow paper (for the flower) from the Pink Lemonade collection.  To give my paper-piecing more depth, I colored them with copics and shaded just I would with white paper.  I really like this look because the pattern adds a lot of texture to the coloring.  After I finished my flower, I spritzed the white card base with some Lemon Zest Dylusions Ink Spray and stamped the sentiment (Sunny Skies) in chocolate brown ink.  I also added some clear Wink of Stella to the flower.  It's hard to see the shine, but here's a close-up:

I finished the card with a few rhinestones.

I hope you'll play along with us this week!  Our sponsor is Simon Says Stamp, who will be giving away a $25 gift certificate to the lucky winner!
